Astrology Forecast for Monday, Dec. 26th until Sunday, Jan. 1st, 2012

Please note that all times given below are Eastern Standard Time, which is five hours behind Universal Time.
This week starts with a four-hour Moon void-of-course (VoC), from 8:36am until 12:15pm on Monday. This means that we need to take it easy on Monday morning -- which for most of us won't be too hard, since it is the day after Christmas and things will probably be quite slow anyways in most Western countries. At 12:15pm the Moon enters Aquarius, bringing more energy to the day.
Jupiter is the energy of expansion, possibility, beliefs, optimism, sociability and effortless growth. As you may recall from last week's update, on Sunday, Dec. 25th at 5:09pm, Jupiter was due to come to a halt, then started its direct motion again -- after almost four months of having been retrograde. This will have more effect on those of you with planets in an early degree of Taurus, Scorpio, Leo or Aquarius. The (very) good news: this week starts with Jupiter being direct; if we give it a couple of days, this energy will bring a wave of abundance and optimism to our finances and sense of self-worth.
On Tuesday, Dec. 27th, at 8:39am, Mercury aligns with the Moon's North Node in Sagittarius. We are being asked to direct our day-to-day thoughts and communications towards the bigger picture. We are invited to have faith and expand our thinking. What would you see if you hovered above your life like an eagle?
On Thursday, Dec. 29th, the Sun aligns with Pluto. This will be "exact" at 2:42am, but we will be feeling this powerful combination from Dec. 27th until Dec. 31st. We are being asked to stand in our power and embrace our deepest passions. It's a great time for manifesting the things we feel strongly about; we could also develop an obsession with some area of our lives. Where does your passion want to take you? Check in with your root chakra and let it guide you. Try this: place your hand over the root chakra. Allow the hand to guide your awareness there. Now check: if that part of your body had a voice, what might it be saying? What might it ask for?
From 8:38am Friday until Saturday at 4:48am, we will be experiencing a very long Moon VoC phase, in dreamy Pisces. This invites us to process what we have experienced leading up to the VoC phase, and to drop into our feminine energies: receiving, nurturing, recharging, reflecting, going inward...
Right before the Moon starts its VoC phase, it makes an opposition to Mars in Virgo; we might have difficulty focusing on the details -- and with getting things done in general. With the Moon in Pisces, we might feel a little out of it or confused; focusing on spiritual or creative endeavors is best. If you start to feel frustrated, remember that tomorrow is another day and you will be able to get things done with much more ease.
Also on Friday the 30th, Mercury reaches 18 degrees of Sagittarius; this is the same degree that the Sun was in at the time of December 10th's Lunar Eclipse. This will bring up thoughts related to that time, together with a desire to communicate what was experienced then. What have you learned since then? What is the bigger picture that has come into view since then?
On Saturday, Dec. 31st, there are several aspects that may affect us. First, at 4:48am, the Moon moves into action-oriented Aries. This gives us plenty of energy to tackle all the things we couldn't get done on Friday. Also today, Venus makes a trine to the Moon's South Node in Gemini. This makes our social lives quite easy today. We are eager to connect to others, talk and share about what we know, and what is going on with us on a day-to-day basis.
On Sunday, January 1st, the Moon is in independent, goal-oriented Aries all day, starting 2012 with lots of pizazz.
Right after midnight on January 1st, Mercury makes a challenging aspect to Mars, at 1:06am. This asks us to pause and think things through before speaking. This may be a stretch for you today -- or any day -- so as best as you can, take a deep breath and count to ten...
Mercury went retrograde back in November at 20 degrees of Sagittarius; it will finally be reaching that point again (after it started going direct on Dec. 9th) and will thus move out of its "shadow" (on Jan 1st). This means that we are done re-communicating and re-assessing things. We can now sign contracts, buy technological devices, cars, and buy and sell in general without anything holding us back or getting delayed.
