Awaken and Transform, Affects of the Uranus/Pluto Square

This year begins the continuation of a planetary dance that last came together in the 1960's and influenced the revolutionary breakthroughs in social, gender, governmental, and psychological norms. Pluto and Uranus were in conjunction in the late sixties and created an intense climate of change, propelling us into a deeper exploration of self- expression and government corruption. Many taboos were broken, and the silence of the people was broken as injustices were brought to light, pressuring the government and corporations to take responsibility for their selfish acts.

Uranus is known as "The Great Awakener," the planet of revolution, technology, liberation, higher consciousness where change is often brought about through unpredictable events which push up against anything that feels limiting or oppressive. Pluto represents transformation, death and rebirth, often brought about buy clearing away anything that is not in integrity or alignment with the greater good and higher purpose.

This energy that began with the conjunction of these two planets in the 1960's is about to be reignited as Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn reach their first exact square in June 2012, and continue to meet up in this square formation several times over the next 3.5 years. On a collective planetary level, we are seeing a global awakening of consciousness. People are rising up against the corruption and secrecy of government and corporations through protests worldwide. The use of the internet (Uranus) makes it possible to deliver news and information that the mainstream media chooses not to cover, putting more power in the people's hands. We have the ability to transform (Pluto) the dysfunctional governmental and financial infrastructures through the power of information and collective uprising.

We can see changes happening on the external level, but much has been happening already on an internal level especially for people with angles, or planets in cardinal signs; Capricorn, Aries, Libra, and Cancer. Cardinal signs take action and initiate change. Let's briefly describe how Uranus and Pluto will affect people with their sun and/or rising sign in these four signs.

Aries Sun and Ascendant: Uranus is passing through your solar first house of self and personality. Pluto is passing through your solar tenth house of career and public recognition. With Uranus transiting the first house, the very core of who are is undergoing transformation. You many find that your desires and direction suddenly change and it's time for you to move on from old friends or places which no longer serve you. Limitations or stuck patterns that you or others have been imposing on yourself are being broken down and replaced with a freer and more authentic expression of who you are. This may be apparent in your work situation as well. With Pluto in the tenth house you are no long content with being behind the scenes at work, and seek to make more of a mark for yourself, whether it is asking for a promotion, or quitting your current job and creating something of your own that will give you the freedom and recognition you desire. With Pluto in the mix, power struggles between bosses or co-workers may be a part of this transition as you assert and empower yourself. Perhaps these changes may come to you without you initiating it and how well you handle the changes will determine the stressfullness of this period in your life. With Uranus in Aries though, it may be easy to make impulsive decisions without having the proper grounding to follow through with the changes in a graceful way. So be sure to think before you act.

Cancer and Cancer Ascendant: Uranus is passing through your solar tenth house of work and Pluto is transiting through your solar seventh house of marriage and partnerships, including business partnerships. Your work situation may be quite unstable now and you may be changing jobs several times as you discover what truly makes you happy and brings you abundance. Situations which you may have put up with in the past may now feel restrictive. You are seeking more freedom and autonomy in your career, such that you may be experiencing conflict with bosses or authority figures. Now is the time to make changes in a direction that is more in alignment to who you are. With Pluto in the seventh house, your personal and business relationships are under pressure right now as deeper issues around power and security surface, forcing you to deal with emotions that you may have rather kept hidden. This is a necessary process that will transform how you show up in your relationships and discover what you want out of your partner in relationship. By the end you will be able to create more intimate and supportive relationships based on a solid foundation of trust and connection.

Libra and Libra Ascendant: Uranus is transiting your solar seventh house of marriage and partnership and Pluto is transiting your solar fourth house of home, family and emotional security. Your relationship might be feeling a little shaky now and change is inevitable. Perhaps you will be getting married, or breaking up from a long-term relationship. You or your partner may be feeling suffocated or limited in some way. The question of security in your relationship is up for discussion, and yet, if you have the ability to give freedom and space in your relationship, you may find that you are able to stay together while embracing each other's individuality and need for independence. Pluto transiting the fourth house often comes with the purchasing of home. Even if this doesn't happen, you will be stepping up into a greater responsibility in your home situation, and may find that you have to remodel or take on more responsibility at home. You may also be confronted with emotional or psychological patterns from childhood that are surfacing to be dealt with now. Your desire to change these dynamics within yourself is strong and you might be drawn to go to therapy.

Capricorn and Capricorn Ascendant: Uranus is transiting through your solar fourth house of family, home and emotional security and Pluto is transiting through you solar first house of self and personality. You may be changing residence many times during this transit or move to a new country completely in an effort to break free from a situation that feels old and restrictive. You may feel ungrounded and be forced to confront old patterns and emotions that have served to limit you. After this transit you are likely to feel more liberated and at ease within yourself and in time find a place that you can call home. Pluto transiting your first house brings a complete transformation in your personal identity. You may be able to get in touch with deeper unconscious urges and compulsions which in the past have controlled your actions. It's time to gain an understanding of yourself which will lead you towards empowerment and self-authority.
