Creating your Treasure Map
The term "treasure map" was coined by astrologer Buz Meyers, who suggested making a collage (treasure map) on the first day of Spring (when the sun moves into Aries) to visualize your intentions for the next twelve months. If this sounds a bit familiar, it because a "treasure map" is basically a vision board, created in conjunction with the timing of the planets.
Jan Spiller (author of New Moon Astrology: The Secret of Astrological Timing to Make All Your Dreams Come True) actually says it's most beneficial to create this "treasure map" when the moon first enters Aries. So, do this for each April New Moon.
Spiller would argue that creating a vision board (or, treasure map) while the New Moon is in Aries is much more effective than one you'd make on or around January 1 because in making one with the New Moon, you are working with the timing of the planets.
While each New Moon is "fruitful for strong new beginnings," the New Moon is Aries is especially powerful as Aries is the first astrological sign in the zodiac. The sign of Aries is associated with new beginnings, action, assertiveness, authenticity, exploration, self-reliance, courage, leadership, strength ... you get the idea!
A few rules to follow:
Jan Spiller, in her book New Moon Astrology: The Secret of Astrological Timing to Make All Your Dreams Come True, describes how she experimented with the most effective ways to wish on the New Moon, and as a result, devised the following "rules of the road":
On New Moon Power Days, your desires become incantations with amazing focus and strength. Using the information provided by Jan Spiller, you'll be able to express your wishes during a "magic" moment - a personal power period in the astrological cycle - setting forces in motion that transform your desires into reality.
Write down your wish list within eight (8) hours following the exact time of the New Moon, whenever possible.
Power Period
There are also 3-5 weeks each year, when you can make wishes every dat, if you so choose. According to Jan Spiller, you can make up to 40 wishes during this time period. (She bases the number of wishes on the research she conducted with her clients and herself.) She calls this 3-5 week window the "granddaddy power period."
The Power Period is when the sun is transiting the eleventh house of your astrological chart. To put it another way, your Power Period is when the current astrological sign of the sun is the same as the sign of your eleventh house.
Each house of an astrological chart "rules" a specific area of your life. The second house is all about self-worth. The seventh is relationships. Tenth is career. The eleventh house rules hopes, wishes, goals and objectives (also friends, acquaintances, groups, organizations).
There are several ways to calculate your transits. You can find transits for free on Astro.com
1. First, create your free chart there.
2. Then, click on "Free Horoscopes" in the upper, left-hand sidebar.
3. Choose "Horoscope Drawings and Calculations."
4. Then, "Extended Chart Selection."
5. Under "Method", choose "natal chart and transits."
How long before you see results of wishes? Is it within the month?
The length of time a wish takes to manifest can really vary, depending on the wish and any internal resistance (that you may not realize you even have). It???s ok to wish for certain things every month but if a long time goes by, without "movement", then Spiller recommends you make a wish to lift resistance. For instance, if you were wishing for a relationship and nothing happened, you would write, "I wish for whatever resistance I have to a relationship to be lifted from me."
Also, be sure to check that you are making wishes for things that you truly want, and not just things that you think you should want. Maybe you are wishing for a relationship because everyone is asking you why you are single. But, deep down, being single is what you really want right now. Whenever you write down a wish, check to see how it makes you feel. If it doesn't feel right, erase it.
Should I rank my wishes?
They do not have to be in any particular order. I do number mine, to make sure that I don't go over 10. Jan Spiller noticed, in her research, that if people made more than 10 wishes, they were less likely to come true.
Make sure to keep wishes separate!
For instance, instead of saying, "I wish to lose weight and exercise more," wish for:
1 - weight loss; example: "I want to easily establish my weight at xxx pounds in a healthy way that is beautifying for my body."
2 - exercise; example: "I want to be willing to do aerobic exercise on a regular basis."
What should I do with my wishes after I’ve written them down? Is it important to look at them frequently?
Do whatever you want with them, short of throwing them away. These are not affirmations, so you don't need to look at them frequently (or, at all). Personally, I have a blank journal where I write my wishes each month. I put the date and sign of the New Moon (April 3, Aries) at the top of the wish list. I do like to occasionally go back through them, especially wishes from months??? prior, to see if any have come true. If I see a repeating wish that isn't coming true.
According to Ted Andrews, author of Animal Speak, when we send a wish to the Universe, she responds with a kind of "test," to see if we are open to receiving. Say you wish for money. You might find a penny the next day; someone might offer to buy you lunch, or they bring you a cup of coffee for free. If you don't take these gifts or don't even notice them, then you are telling the Universe that you aren't ready yet. If you accept them gladly, and with gratefulness, then the energy should grow.
So, when you make wishes, be on the look-out for those "tests" and be ready to receive!
